Knight joins forces with Spartans

Blyth Spartans is delighted to announce the arrival of forward Lewis Knight on loan from Gateshead until January 1st, 2024.

The 24-year-old became a fans' favourite at Bradford Park Avenue having registered numerous goal contributions during his spell in Yorkshire before catching the eye of Notts County who signed Knight on a two-and-a-half-year deal in March 2021.

Knight made eight appearances for the Magpies in his debut season, however, injuries prevented him from solidifying a regular first-team slot.

He then re-joined the Horsfall outfit for the second half of the 2021/22 National League North season and featured 20 times, scoring five goals in the process - one of which came against Spartans in a 3-1 triumph for Bradford Park Avenue.

Knight departed County to make a switch to Tyneside and sign a two-year deal with Gateshead in June 2022, but a season struck with injury only enabled him to turn out eight times for the Heed during the 2022/23 campaign.

Speaking on securing Lewis for the first half of the Vanarama National League North 2023/24 campaign, Graham Fenton said: "I'm really happy to acquire his services for the upcoming months, I've been an admirer of his from a distance especially when he was breaking through at Bradford Park Avenue a few years ago.

"It's an opportunity I didn't want to pass up on, the chance to take him on loan from Gateshead and to have him come into our team will definitely be a welcome addition to our frontline.

"It's a good opportunity for him to get game time after a difficult year he has had with injury and hopefully he will kick on and contribute to the team with the great potential he has."

Commenting on signing for the Club, Lewis said: "I'm very excited to be here. I watched the lads play on Saturday against Hartlepool and I was impressed with the way they wanted to keep the ball to try and hurt teams.

"I hope I can add quality to the attacking line and I can't wait to get stuck in."

Welcome to Croft Park, Lewis!
