Blyth's Manager Mick Tait has continued to add his squad in advance of the new Blue Square season which kicks off on August 8th when the Spartans travel to take on Telford.

He is especially pleased to have signed 26-year-old former Durham City Captain Stephen Harrison who spent some time with Blyth a few years ago.
"I'm delighted to get Harrison," he said. "He is a quality player who is the right age and is comfortable on the ball. He's also familiar with surroundings at Blyth"

Actually the latter point is not entirely accurate as improvements made since the right back was at the club are substantial. New terracing, seated areas and the Carlsberg Stand at the Plessey Road end have all served to transform Croft Park. In addition a brand new stand at the Kingsway end of the ground will be open in time for the pre-season friendly on 4th August with a Newcastle United side which will mark 100 years of football at the ground.

Tait may have young striker John Alexander in the squad for that game. Billingham Town's top scorer last season is the subject of a bid from the Spartans. Unlike Durham City Manager Lee Collins' attitude to losing Harrison - "I feel let down" - the Teesside club state that if Alexander moves on he does so on good terms and with best wishes.

Blyth have also offered terms to former Newcastle Blue Star goalkeeper Dan Lowson who is currently on trial at Ilkeston and are pursuing teenage winger Josh Gilles who has been interesting Motherwell.
Former defenders Ben Christenson and Richard Forster have been training with Tait's squad.

Admission for the Croft Park Centenary Game against Newcastle will be £5 and £2. The game will kick off at 7.30pm.
The club will be announcing more details about match next week.

The Spartans lost on penalties to Edinburgh Spartans on Saturday and then 4-2 to Raith Rovers the following day.

Meanwhile Blyth travel to neighbours Ashington for a friendly on 21st July and host FA Vase winners Whitley Bay on Saturday 25th July, kick off 3.00pm.
