Friday, 17 January 2025

Blyth Spartans are delighted to confirm that Lee Barras has rejoined the club as Goalkeeper Coach.

Lee first joined Spartans in 2017, aged 39, and was still training as a goalkeeper at the time, but worked closely alongside Pete Jameson and Shaun MacDonald.

He is a highly respected coach who has coached, mentored and looked after some of the country's best goalkeepers, covering all the leagues of the English Football Pyramid from the Premier League to Non-League.

Lee has had a host of jobs where he has been able to showcase his skills such as Newcastle United, Sunderland AFC, Middlesborough, Durham City, Consett AFC, Wilmington, West Auckland, Bishop Auckland and most recently Ashington AFC.

On re-joining Spartans, Lee said:

What an honor it is to be back at blyth Spartans, my first stint as goalkeeping coach was in 2017. The supporters are amazing and demand high standards, I'm here to demand high standards of not just my goalkeepers but all players and staff as they demand this from me too which is going to be key going forward. I promise the supporters that I will do and give everything for this club. To be given a second opportunity to continue the great work of previous coaches that lay the foundations is an honor, I can't wait to meet the supporters again of this great club. We have a very passionate set of staff here with a brilliant set of players and I assure you that we all want this club where it belongs.

Welcome back, Lee!
