Lets make it count next time - Donnelly
Wednesday, 14 November 2012
Spartans defender Darryll Donnelly reflected on the stalemate against his former club Whitley Bay and insisted that his team mates have to start making chances count in the replay against the Seahorses. Both sides let a number of chances go begging in a frustrating night at Croft Park. Donnelly said "Both sides had some really good chances to win the game, it was end to end at times and we just have to go to their place and make it count really. It's far from ideal having another game in the fixture list given the amount of tough games we have coming up but we can go there in confidence".
For the first time since joining Spartans, Donnelly faced his former team mates and accepted that whilst it was strange to come up against his old side there was really only one thing on his mind. He commented "It was strange but I know they are a good bunch of lads and it was good to see them. I'm obviously disappointed because I wanted to get one over on them but hopefully we have a chance to do that in the replay".
With another home fixture coming up in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League this coming Saturday Donnelly wants his side to make home comforts count. Bottom club Eastwood Town travel to Croft Park and the Spartans defender feels it's one of the biggest games of the season. He said "It's a big game, a massive game in fact. We need this three points to continue the little improvements we have been making under Paddy and Tom. With it being at home hopefully we can get a big crowd in here again and they can make some noise again like they did tonight".
