Maguire signs new contract

Flanked by chairman Tony Platten and Assistant Manager Colin Myers, Spartans striker Dan Maguire signed a new contract at Croft Park last night and immediately set himself a target of improving on his impressive goal tally from last season. Maguire was Spartans top scorer with twenty seven goals in all competitions in what was his first full season with the club but after putting pen to paper he revealed he aims to improve on that during the coming campaign.

"I enjoyed last season and can't wait to get started for the new season. I want to improve on last season, give everything I have got to give and work harder than I have before. The goals will come with that and I want to keep improving"

However it wasn't just about his own performance for the former Seaton Delaval striker as he challenged his team mates to improve on last season's eighth place finish in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League.

"It was a great year, we have plenty to build on and I think we surprised some people with how well we did. We have to keep working hard and try to push even harder for the play offs"
