Tuesday, 23 July 2024

Marcello Benedetti is the latest arrival at Croft Park as he joins Blyth Spartans for the upcoming 2024/25 season.

The 22-year-old attacker can play anywhere across the front line of attack and has recently played his trade in the Northern League for the likes of West Allotment Celtic, Seaton Delaval AFC and Whitley Bay.

Benedetti started his career when he was eight years old when he joined the Academy of Light for Sunderland AFC and stayed there until he was 16.

He moved to Sheffield Wednesday as he signed a professional contract with their academy and represented England at the Under-17 level during his time.

Following his departure from The Owls he has trials at some EFL clubs such as Reading FC and Salford City and League of Ireland Premier Division side Shelbourne FC.

On arriving at Croft Park, Marcello said: "I'm looking forward to signing for Blyth Spartans.

"It's obviously a fantastic club with lots of history, I know the gaffer really well and I'm looking forward to it.

"I hope to get the team back to where they need to be."

Welcome to Blyth, Marcello!
