The game started with both sides exchanging spells of possession, but it didn't take long for Gateshead's class to shine through with Ollie Thompson opening the scoring for the visitors from a cross by Luke Hannant following a break from a Spartans corner.
Hannant was the provider once again in the 17th minute when he picked out Oseni who was allowed to bring the ball down inside the box before finishing.
A minute later Oseni nearly added a third, but he hit the post when he had an open goal in front of him.
The visitors didn't have to wait much longer for a third however, with Regan Booty converting a free kick from the edge of the box following a foul from Michael Woods.
It was four in the 31st minute when Will McGowan raced through the middle and slotted past Michael Hogan.
It was almost five before the break when Thompson beat the offside trap, but his square ball was cut out and Hogan gathered the ball.
