Matthew Ridley joins the club

Blyth Spartans can confirm that Matthew Ridley has joined the club.

The defender joins the club having last played for Sutton United before his release from the club.

The 24-year-old started at Darlington 1883 before quickly moving to Billingham Synothia and then to Chester-Le-Street United.

He then travelled to the United States of America to play for Lander Bearcats, RB Collage and UNLV Rebels before moving back to England to play for Whitby Town.

Whilst at Whitby he was sent out on loan to both Consett AFC and Guisborough before later being signed by Sutton United in July 2023. Whilst at Sutton, he was loaned out to Chesham United.

Ridley has been training with the squad for the past month and will be available for selection against Hebburn Town tomorrow.
