After more than playing his part in the win over Frickley Athletic tonight Spartans midfielder Matthew Wade was delighted to see his side improve "massively" from Saturday's home defeat against Matlock Town. The former Washington FC man played a key role in the win at Westfield Lane and insisted his side deserved to take all three points back to Northumberland.

"We were very good tonight and we improved massively from the loss on Saturday which wasn't good enough. Tonight was a team performance and we battled for each other and I think we deserved the win"

After joining the club from Northern League side Washington FC in the summer it has been quite the step up for Wade but he has settled well into life at Croft Park, culminating in a very impressive show in tonight's win. The youngster was was quick to praise his more experienced fellow midfielders for helping him cope with his first taste of life in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League.

"It's going well and I'm getting used to the league more and more every game. It's a lot easier playing with the experienced lads in midfield like Craig Hubbard, Neal Hooks and Damen Mullen because they talk you through the game. It just makes life easier for me"

Wade added to the plaudits given to match winner Robbie Dale after the forwards' stunning late goal ensured Spartans got the win. However the midfielder jokingly claimed he was hesitant to give Dale too much praise.

"It was a good goal, we won't give him too much praise but it was a very good goal we will give him that at least"
