It was a solid first season at Croft Park for Matthew Wade but after putting pen to paper on a new contract the former Washington FC man revealed he is setting his sights on a play off place. Six goals and eight assists meant that the young midfielder successfully made the step up from Northern League to Evo-Stik Northern Premier League and it was a performance he hopes he can improve on in the coming campaign.

"Last season was a great season but it was tough. I just want to keep improving and playing my part at the club, I think there is enough quality here to see us improve on our position and we have learnt lesson last season so hopefully that will help us get a play off spot"

A hectic pre-season schedule awaits Wade and his team mates with the opening pre-season game coming on 5th July as Whitley Bay make the short trip to Croft Park and the midfielder can't wait for pre-season to get underway.

"I think everyone at the club is looking forward to getting back for pre-season. It will be tough because every pre-season is but we have some great friendlies and they will help us get ready for the new season"
