Mick Tait on Transfer Targets
Wednesday, 3 June 2009
New Blyth Spartans Manager Mick Tait has started his extensive search for players capable of establishing the Club's position in the Blue Square North. Tait is looking to sign up to eight new players and hopes to start with a defender and midfield player.
Darren Craddock, the former Hartlepool, York City and Newcastle Blue Star player, plus Steve Turnbull, who plays in centre midfield and was released by Gateshead, have agreed terms and Tait hopes to secure their signatures in the near future.
"Craddock is an experienced player who will do well at our level while Turnbull was only released by Gateshead because he is such a similar player to his brother Phil who also plays for the Tynesiders" commented Tait.
"Both are young and can get better" he added.
Craddock is 24 and Turnbull is 22 years old.
The Blyth boss is still interested in Blue Star striker Paul Brayson and is focussing on attracting new players rather than an Assistant.
"That can wait for the moment," he said. "I need to sort out the playing side as soon as possible and I'm putting every effort into that.
"Chris Emms, who was with Blue Star last season and can play on the right or left of midfield or even behind the front two, is very interested in us and I'll be in touch with him again when he returns from Australia at the beginning of July."
Meanwhile Tait was pleased to hear of Steve Bruce's appointment as the new Manager at Sunderland. Bruce was Manager at Sheffield United in the late nineties when Tait was his Assistant.
