New Signing

Tuesday, 31 March 2009

Striker Anthony Shandran signed for us yesterday, full clearance has been accepted by The Football Conference prior to today's deadline.

The talented 27 year old stated off his career at Burnley, where he was a teammate of current Spartans defender Andrew Leeson. He made one sub appearance for the Clarets and also had a loan period at York City and whilst the loan went well for the player (he scored 3 goals in 12 starts) his goals and performances were not enough to save York City from relegation to the Conference National.

A nomadic non-league existence has seen Shandran ply his trade at Spennymoor United, Gateshead, Newcastle Blue Star, Newcastle Benfield Saints and Bedlington Terriers and he was heavily linked with the Spartans during Paul Baker's time as manager.

More recently, he was the start performer in Bedlington's embarrassing 5-1 pre season demolition of the Spartans and it is hoped that he can reproduce this sort of form on a regular basis at Croft Park and retain the club's Blue Square North status.

Welcome aboard Anthony!
