New Signing | Richard Pell returns to Croft Park
Monday, 13 June 2016
The club is delighted to announce the return to Croft Park of defender Richard Pell.
Richard was part of the Spartans' historic FA Cup run squad of 2008/09 before he had to move south with his job and he signed for Alfreton. The location of his employment changed once more seeing him return to the north east and he re-signed for Blyth. The following season saw him transfer to Harrogate Town. Richard has spent the last three seasons with Whitby Town.
"I've kept a close eye on how Blyth were doing," said Richard. "I've always looked on them fondly. I'd say I enjoyed my time at Blyth as being as much as anywhere in my career.
"I'm really pleased to be back again. Blyth is a big club; a top of the table side. Tom [Wade] talked to me about signing and, to be honest, any player would have their head turned if Blyth Spartans were interested.
"I must say that Whitby are a lovely club with some great people but I'm now looking forward to resuming my career with Blyth."
33-year-old Newcastle-based physiotherapist Richard doesn't see age as an issue.
He commented: "Experience can be very important. Age itself needn't be an issue. Plus it's not unusual these days for footballers to play into their 30s."
Welcome back Pelly...again!
