News | Blyth Spartans Juniors donate to Food Bank
Friday, 20 December 2019
Over the last two weeks, Blyth Spartans Juniors tasked each of their 16 teams with collecting food items to be donated to the Blyth Food Bank based in the Town Centre.
Each team was provided with a large box and a list of items that the Food Bank needed in order to distribute to residents in the area who use the services of the Food Bank.
These items were delivered by coaches and players from each of the teams on Sunday morning, and the donations received will make a huge difference to many families in the area over the festive period.
Adrienne Ruddock, Food Bank Trustee said: "We are overwhelmed by the generosity and donations from the Spartans Junior teams, we can't thank them enough for their efforts, it will make a huge difference."
Andy Thompson, Blyth Spartans Juniors Secretary commented: "The majority of our players and coaches live in Blyth, and we want to be able to give something back to the community in which we live and play football.
"It's also a chance to show our young players that working together we can make a difference to those who may be a little less fortunate than ourselves."
The Blyth Food Bank will be in attendance during our game with Southport on Saturday should supporters wish to donate.
