Blyth Spartans are delighted to confirm that Lewis McNall and Jordan Hickey have signed new contracts with the club for the upcomIng season.

Both players joined the club last summer, with former Newcastle United youngster McNall scoring six times in 33 appearances in all competitions, with five of those coming in the final third of the season as Spartans successfully fought off relegation.

Hickey signed from Hull City and made 32 appearances for Blyth, and while he didn't find the net, the tough-tackling midfielder was an integral part of the side with his versatility proving especially useful for manager Terry Mitchell.

Speaking about his new contract, McNall said, "Since I joined last summer I have nothing but good words to say about everyone associated with the club, there was no doubt in my mind that I wanted to stay."

Hickey added, "I'm looking forward to getting back after a break and really hoping to kick on in a better way than what we showed last season. Hopefully with a couple of signings coming in we can go from strength to strength and really produce what the fans fully deserve."

Manager Mitchell was delighted that both players had put pen to paper, "They're two very good young players who, with the experience of last season under their belts, we really think can kick-on next year.

Lewis proved last year that he's over his injuries and with a run of games he'll get goals. He's a great lad on and off the pitch and is one of our best finishers if you watch him in training.

Jordan is a great utility player, he's played in the centre of the park and towards the end of the year he's played right-back and left-back. With a smaller squad it's vital to have that versatility."
