Blyth Spartans are thrilled to confirm that experienced full-back Michael Liddle and goalkeeper Alex Mitchell have signed new deals at the club.
Liddle, who has made 142 appearances for the club over two spells, re-joined Spartans last summer and was a key player as the club successfully avoided relegation from National League North.
Mitchell joined last summer from Scottish side Annan Athletic and made 45 appearances in all competitions, with the shot-stopper making turning in several impressive performances.
Liddle was over the moon to be staying at the club, "I was never going anywhere else once the gaffer said he wanted me back this season. Blyth works so well for me and I love it here. We've got a great group and I think with a few decent signings can hopefully kick on from the end of last season."
Mitchell was also keen to see the club kick on from last season, "I'm hoping for a good preseason so it sets me up for when the real games start. All the lads that were here last year are keen to put last season behind us and have a much more successful season this season."
Terry Mitchell was delighted to have two experienced performers secured on new deals. "I'm really happy to get Alex and Michael re-signed for the club next year.
Alex is a great shot-stopper as the fans can see. He's developing into the style of play we're looking to do. He's a top lad, never misses training - he's travelling from Carlisle - that tells you he's a really committed.
Michael's an experienced player. He's a dead fit lad, he can get up and down the pitch and he's a vital part of the team. To get him to sign again for this year, I'm delighted."
