News of Spartans Old Boys (#01)

Tuesday, 18 August 2009

The start of the season has seen a few ex-Spartans make their ways with new clubs.

Adam Bartlett has made his (surely belated) Football League debut with Hereford United and has already shown the Bulls faithful what he is all about with some spectactular saves for his new side (including a penalty save in the game against former Premiership side Charlton Athletic).

Wayne Phillips, Paul Farman and Phil Turnbull have started life in the Blue Square National with a couple of defeats (albeit against two of the stronger, more fancied sides in the division in Histon United and Luton Town)

Richard Pell has made a good start at Alfreton Town in the Blue Square North scoring on his debut and impressing with his ability at the other end of the field.

Alex Gildea, Liam Gildea and Ged Dalton all featured in Harry Dunn's first game back at Whitby Town at the weekend, but couldn't prevent Whitby from going down 3-2 to Nantwich Town in the Unibond Premier Division.

Peter Snowdon, Anthony Shandran and Jamie Poole have started well at Northern League side Bedlington Terriers, all three have already notched goals for the Terriers this season and this has seen the side progress to the next round of the FA Cup courtesy of a 2-0 win over Thackley.

I'm sure the majority of SpartansFans will be keeping a keen eye of the progress of our former players.
