News | Ritson and Amantchi return to parent clubs

Thursday, 2 January 2020

Blyth Spartans can confirm Lewis Ritson and Levi Amantchi have returned to their parent clubs following their respective loan spells.

Ritson returns to Hull City having made 21 appearances since his arrival in August - most frequently forming a defensive partnership with Tom Devitt.

"It was tough but a good experience for me to get some games in a competitive league," Ritson told blythspartans.com

"All the lads are quality and so are the fans. I enjoyed it even though it hasn't always been great results.

"The character in the group is there to see and I'm sure they will be fine the rest of the season. All in all, it was a good experience for me."

Amantchi returns to Chesterfield as a cult hero after his last touch as a Blyth Spartans player turned out to be a 93rd-minute equaliser against local rivals Gateshead on New Year's Day.

The club wished to extend the 19-year-old's loan, however the player wants to try and earn a new contract at the National League club with six months left on his current deal.

In total, Amantchi scored two goals - including the winner at Curzon Ashton in October - in 16 outings.

Blyth Spartans manager Lee Clark said: "I'd like to thank both players for their efforts and wish them the very best for the future."

We echo Lee's comment and would like to add that both players will always be welcomed back at Croft Park.
