News | SEVEN major sponsors commit to Spartans

Monday, 20 July 2020

Blyth Spartans AFC is delighted to announce that the club has secured the support of seven major sponsors that will greatly assist in securing the future of our famous club in these unprecedented times.

Our new main shirt sponsorship from CFS Offshore Services, a local high-tech engineering fabrication company based in Hebburn, was the final piece in discussions that have progressed over the close season.

Additionally, five long-term sponsors have also agreed to continue supporting the club:

The Port of Blyth: Has supported the club for over 25 years and will continue to sponsor the Main Stand and the Player of the Month award.

Fergusons Transport: Formed in Blyth almost 100 years ago, will continue to sponsor the West Stand.

The Commissioners Quay: Part of the Inn Collection group with a modern hotel on Blyth's redeveloped Quay Side, will sponsor the North Stand.

Lennon Properties: Manages and lets properties throughout South East Northumberland, will continue to sponsor the South Stand.

All four stands at Croft Park will be sponsored by local companies who recognise the significance of Blyth representing the town and county at the highest level of football possible.

JFS Torbitt: An accountancy business with offices in Gateshead and Blyth has once again agreed to sponsor the back of the club's shirt.

SOS Business Service: Local offices based on Team Valley in Gateshead, have agreed to renew their shirt sleeve sponsorship for the second consecutive season.

The whole of the Executive Committee would like to thank the individuals involved for agreeing to sponsor the club in what everyone recognises are difficult times for all companies.

Working in parallel with the commercial activities, we would also like to thank all supporters who have continued with their regular contributions to the 1899 Club and also those who have generously contributed to the Future Fund.

We are also grateful to season ticket holders that have contacted the club and donated their 'missing games' from last season to help support the club's finances.

Information on the remaining season ticket arrangements will be communicated over the coming weeks, once we have more certainty on the new season.

As well as behind-the-scenes commercial discussions, various other activities have been ongoing at the club throughout the shutdown.

A new disabled viewing platform has been designed and installed, making use of a grant applied for last season from the Football Stadia Improvement Fund. The bid was gratefully supported with a grant from Northumberland County Council via local councillor Jeff Reid.

The new platform complies with all regulations and will allow up to five supporters with their helpers to view matches. The in-house design is being offered to other clubs and several throughout the country have expressed an interest.

The social club has seen hands at work, where all lighting has been replaced with high efficiency LED modules, which will save over 70% of electricity costs. The gents' toilets have received a makeover and the entrance foyer has been wood panelled.

An additional 6,000 litres of water harvesting (taking the total to 16,000 litres) has been installed behind the Ferguson stand to help cope with the ever-changing climatic conditions.

As soon as more information is available regarding the start of pre-season friendlies and what restrictions might have to be implemented to ensure social distancing, we will of course keep you informed.
