Blyth Spartans AFC is very pleased to announce Rhys Evans has committed his future to the club for the upcoming season.
The 23-year-old joined from Newcastle Benfield last summer having previously spent time in Scotland with Queen of the South and St Johnstone.
Evans stepped up from the Northern League to become a regular name in the Blyth starting XI. He, alongside Robbie Dale, made the highest number of appearances (37) for 2019/20.
And after signing up for the 2020/21 campaign under new manager Michael Nelson, Evans expressed his delight - setting aside special praise for the Spartans supporters.
"I am delighted to be here for another year," Evans said. "And I can't wait until football resumes.
"Last season didn't go as well as any of us wanted, however I enjoyed playing week in week out during my first season at the club.
"I am very excited for the new season under the new gaffer and hopefully it's more successful than the last.
"The club has some great people behind the scenes and I can't speak highly enough of the fans. They were superb last year - I don't think we can thank them enough."
The club is carefully planning ahead in what will be a difficult few months as further clarity is awaited on when next season will begin and what league it will be.
But now Evans' future is finalised, the right-back can look ahead to another campaign at Croft Park.
He added: "In these uncertain times, I am very happy to be signed up for next year and I can now concentrate on getting as fit as possible and ready for next season without worrying where I am going to be playing.
"It's a great group of lads in the changing room too. Obviously football is always a revolving door and I am sure the gaffer will be working on bringing new lads in.
"I hope everyone is safe and well."
