Club wins League’s first ever PR Award
Monday, 1 July 2013
Blyth Spartans have beaten off competition from 67 other clubs to pick up the prestigious 'Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Public Relations Club of the Year Award 2012-13'.
Evo-Stik NPL Media Manager Dave Watters said: "Blyth Spartans are thoroughly deserved winners of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League's first ever public relations award. Frankly, they were standout winners for their efforts across numerous media platforms and have set a fantastic example to the rest of the league's clubs.
"There were other great entries but none compared to Spartans in terms of breadth of output and the coverage they received. Media-wise Blyth had every base covered whether on Twitter, Facebook, the club's official website or in the pages of their local media.
"It was also no surprise when the club became the first in the league to team up with commercial radio and launch their own dedicated Spartans podcast. Congratulations to everyone in the club's media department for a job well done."
Spartans Media Manager Phil Castiaux commented: "We are thrilled and delighted to scoop the award. It reflects the commitment, dedication and quality of the media team's members, who all operate in a voluntary capacity.
Mark Carruthers, Glen Maxwell, Michael Soulsby, Martin Hunter, plus Jonny Hall from Radio Northumberland all ably assisted by Ian Hertwick and Bill Broadley thoroughly deserve this recognition.
"This coming season we are adding to our portfolio by launching a TV channel, BSAFCTV, which can be accessed via the club's website- www.blythspartansafc.co.uk
"There is currently an opportunity to join our award winning team. We are looking for a camera operator to film matches for the TV channel. Any interested parties should contact [email protected] "
