Pre-Season | Spartans Face Away Trip To Shildon As Friendly List Begins to Take Shape

Thursday, 25 May 2017

Blyth Spartans will travel to Northern League side Shildon for a friendly this summer, as the club continues to add to its pre-season preparations.

Alun Armstrong's men will take on The Railwaymen at Dean Street on Tuesday July 11 (7pm kick-off.) This fixture means that the Vanarama National League North side will now face away trips to Northern League sides on three consecutive Tuesday evenings, with Newcastle Benfield and West Auckland Town playing host to Blyth on July 4 and July 18 respectively.

The reigning Evo-Stik Premier League champions will hope to better the result of their last trip to Shildon - after Gary Forrest's side ran out comfortable 3-1 winners over a recently relegated Blyth side back in 2012. That scoreline was in stark contrast to the meeting at Croft Park just 12 months earlier, when goals from Chris Emms, Graeme Armstrong and Dan Groves helped Blyth to a 3-0 victory.

Admission to the game will be £5 for adults, but only £3 for concessions.
