Pre-Season Update

Sunday, 4 July 2010

Blyth Spartans are gearing up for the new season with training having started and a batch of attractive pre-season friendlies on the horizon - with a discount ticket offer available.

"We trained for the first time on Saturday," said Blyth manager Mick Tait.
"It went very well. I'd asked the lads to do some training on their own with friendlies starting on 10th July and I was pleased with their fitness levels."

The Spartans are due to play four home games in a week starting with Berwick Rangers this Saturday (10th July) at 3.00pm. They then entertain Greenock Morton on Tuesday 13th, kick off 7.30pm, and on the following Thursday play a Sunderland eleven, again with a 7.30pm start.
The hectic week wraps up on Saturday 17th July with East Stirling travelling to Croft Park for a 3.00pm kick-off.

Admission charges for the games are £5 for adults and £2 for concession but the club is offering a £15 adult ticket, and £6 concessions ticket, to cover all four games.
These are available from General Manager Ian Evans in the club office between 9.30 and 12.30 weekdays or on the gate at the Berwick Rangers fixture.

The number of games in quick succession came about though changing circumstances.
"It's a little bit unfortunate," commented Mick Tait.
"The Berwick and Sunderland matches were arranged first but then East Stirling and then Morton rang looking for games. All were decent fixtures so we didn't want to turn them down. On a positive note the games coming in rapid succession, as they do, they can really improve our fitness being an alternative to simply running."

With some talks at an advanced stage with potential new players Tait hopes to have some new faces in the squad by the end of the week.

Season tickets for this year's Blue Square Bet North fixtures are also available from the club office at a cost of £190 for adults and £105 for concessions.
