Opposition

The Heed have a doubleheader this week as they face North Shields on Thursday evening, before their trip to Croft Park on Friday evening.

So far this pre-season Rob Elliot's side has beaten Hebburn Town 7-1 and EFL Championship side Sunderland 2-1.

What They're Saying

After their victory over Sunderland newly appointed first-team coach Antony Sweeny said: "I thought we played really well.

"There are things we have been working on in training in terms of the in and out of possession stuff and that was evident today, not necessarily about the result, but the performances go a long way with the results, so I'm really pleased.

Last Time We Met

The sides last met in February 2022 at the Gateshead International Stadium in the Vanarama National League North as the Heed emerged victorious winning 3-1.

However, at Croft Park earlier that season, the Spartans defeated Gateshead 2-1 thanks to goals from JJ O'Donnell and Robbie Dale. Paul Blackett also opened the match's scoring for Gateshead.
