Team News

What We're Saying

After his first game in charge, Nobby Solano said: "We started only the preseason a couple of weeks ago and it's not that easy, especially at this level to get the boys day by day and it would be perfect if we could train every day, especially in preseason time.

"I'm pleased with the boys, they try to do their best, you know, to get into the training sessions, to get into the way we want to play.

"But we need to get everybody fit, so we need to give everyone minutes to get it. You can see players get tired, not much quality in the game, but yeah, like I say, we will get there before we start the season. We will go to every match like it will be a battle because we are looking forward to it again.

I'm looking forward to making all the fans happy every weekend if we can. It'll be tough. It's not as simple, I understand, but we need to be together as usual. I know fans will be looking forward to seeing the team get back again, and get promotion, our ambition is to try to get promotion and after that, we see what happens."

Opposition

The Robins have already played two pre-season games, a 3-2 defeat to Alnwick Town and a 4-0 victory over Percy Main in the Gary Hill Memorial Trophy.

Last season, they finished 14th in the Northern Football League Division One in a season that saw a lot of changes within the club with new owners, club personnel and a managerial change as Brian Smith took charge in December 2023.

North Shields have three more pre-season friendlies before they start their 2024/25 campaign in the Emirates FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round against Newcastle Blue Star.

Last Time We Met

The sides met this time last year in a pre-season friendly at Daren Persson Stadium as Blyth emerged victorious with a 2-0 win courtesy of first-half goals from Jordan Hickey and JJ Hooper.

The season prior, the sides met the Northumberland Senior Cup, again at Daren Persson Stadium, this time in a 2-1 victory for the Spartans with two second half goals from Michael Liddle and Jay Errington.
