Team News

Will McGowan had to be withdrawn in the last quarter of an hour of Tuesday night's fixture after coming worse off in a 50/50 challenge, however, the Spartans maestro's impact injury seems less than initially feared and could make Saturday's matchday squad.

What We're Saying

After rescuing a point against Chorley, Jon Shaw said: "I think over the balance of the game, I think we should have won with the chances we created.

"We started slow which I think was the most disappointing thing. The gaffer came in at half-time and said he was bored because we didn't come to life until they scored.

"And we were playing okay, we were keeping the ball but we weren't going anywhere with it."

Opposition

The Turbines were promoted to the National League North for the first time in their history last season. They went on to finish 14th, accumulating a total of 57 points across 46 games.

This season they currently sit 20th in the table having six wins from 19 league games, just one place above the relegation zone and winning just one of their last four league games.

In their last fixture, however, they defeated Leiston 4-1 in the second round of the Isuzu FA Trophy and will face an away tie against Dagenham and Redbridge in the third round.

Last Time We Met

The sides met for the first time last September, it was a trip to forget for the travelling Spartans as Peterborough Sports would win 4-0.

In the reverse fixture later that season, it all looked good for Blyth as Cedric Main put Blyth ahead after just three minutes, but a Michael Spellman red card early on in the second half changed the game as Josh McCammon scored the equaliser for the Turbines in what finished a 1-1 draw at Croft Park.
