Radio Northumberland to continue Spartans coverage

Sunday, 24 August 2014

Radio Northumberland has announced details of their upcoming Blyth Spartans coverage this season.

As always, the online community station will be the only place to hear live and uninterrupted coverage of every game from Croft Park this season, starting tomorrow as Whitby Town make the short trip up the North East coast.

Returning to the commentary box for the game will be the station's Head of Sport Jonny Hall, but he will be joined by a new face in the form of Ryan Gray.

Jonny said: "I absolutely loved my time covering the Spartans, but work commitments meant that I had to step down from the role earlier in the summer.

"We have since scoured the county looking for a replacement and I'm delighted to invite Ryan into the Radio Northumberland fold.

"He will be sitting in the co-commentators seat for the Whitby game, but I have no doubt that he will thrive in the main seat when Spartans return to home action again next week."

Ryan, an aspiring sports journalist from Morpeth, is looking forward to what will be a 'special' experience.

He said: "I am looking forward to getting started and I can't wait to experience the exciting moments that Blyth will undoubtedly have in store for us this season."

"To share that excitement with the station's listeners will be something truly special."

The club would like to take the opportunity to welcome Radio Northumberland back to Croft Park this season.

Media Manager Phil Castiaux commented: "It's great news that the station will be continuing its excellent work and its partnership with ourselves. We will be announcing a new co-commentator soon following Mark Carruthers decision to concentrate on the writing side of his role as Senior Press Officer."
