Spennymoor Town 5-0 Blyth Spartans
Blyth Spartans were put to the sword by Spennymoor Town as the Moors put five past the away side.
Spartans were down to
10-men after 13 minutes which set the tone for the remainder of the game as
Blyth still look for their first win of the season.
Stephen Brogan gave
Spennymoor Town the lead after 14 minutes via a free-kick.
The home side doubled
their lead three minutes later after Adam Boyes slid the ball underneath Mark
Foden.
Spennymoor added a
third after 51 minutes through Andrew Johnson.
Five minutes later the
hosts added a fourth as James Roberts smashed home.
Johnson got his second
of the match finishing from close range after 83 minutes.
After 13 minutes Blyth
were reduced to 10-men when Joe Robson pulled down James Roberts just outside
the penalty area.
From the resulting
free-kick, Brogan bent one away from Foden and into the top corner to give
Spennymoor the lead.
Hanani Amantchi looked
to lay the ball back to a teammate but instead played in Adam Boyes from the
halfway line and Boyes was left with a simple task to finish past the onrushing
Foden.
Johnson cut in from
the left-hand-side before curling an effort beyond Foden from 23-yards out to
put the game beyond doubt.
Ten minutes into the
second-half and Spennymoor had doubled their first-half lead as Boyce crashed a
header off the bar before Roberts fired home the rebound on the volley.
Gavin Cogdon almost
made it five for the Moors when he struck a side volley from the edge of the
box ten minutes from time, thankfully Foden saw it smash back out off the post.
However, the hosts did make it five through Johnson as he reacted quickest to a loose ball in the area before smashing home emphatically for his second of the evening.
