Robbo returns to Bay

Spartans midfielder Paul Robinson has decided to leave the club and rejoin former club Whitley Bay.

Signed from Darlington 1883 in November 2013, Robinson made his debut in the 1-5 Doodson Sports Cup defeat against the Quakers. His League debut came three days later as Spartans fell to a 1-2 defeat at Buxton.

However it was third time lucky for Robbo as he finally tasted success on his home debut against Rushall Olympic as he smashed home a late winner in a 3-2 win over the Midlands outfit.

He scored a total of three goals in his first season at Croft Park including another late winner in the epic 4-3 win at Stamford on the final day of the season.

Spartans manager Tom Wade was disappointed to lose the midfielder and admitted he still had a big role to play at the club.

"We are very disappointed that Paul has left the club. He got back into the team on Tuesday against Darlington and played well so he would have kept his place for tomorrow's game. We had a good chat and we wanted him to stay but he made his mind up and I respect that decision.

He has been a pleasure to manage in his time here and he is a great lad. We wish his all the best at his new club"

Wade also revealed that talks would soon be underway with a player the club have identified to replace Robinson.

"Players come and go at clubs and we have just got to get on with it. We are speaking with a player today who we hope to bring in so it's very much a case of watch this space"
