Six Spartans commit ahead of new season

Blyth Spartans' summer transfer activity got underway as six of last season's squad committed themselves to the club for the new season.

Captain Robbie Dale was among the names alongside five of the club's younger players who all received call ups to the England "C" representative squad last season.

Defender Danny Parker (pictured), midfielders Lewis Horner, Arran Wearmouth and Matthew Wade and top scorer Dan Maguire have all agreed to commit to another season at Croft Park. That was a move that manager Tom Wade hailed as "a fantastic start to our squad building" and revealed he is hopeful of more positive news in the coming days.

He said "The six lads committing to the club for the new season is a fantastic start to our squad building. We know we need to strengthen so we can give ourselves the best possible chance of improving on last year's progress and that is something we are working on everyday.

As well as this we have to look after the players who gave us so much last season. We are hopeful of making more progress in the coming days"

Full interviews with members of the current squad and new additions will be available on Spartans official YouTube channel BSAFCTV when pre-season training gets underway in late June.
