Spartans bring Tob in

Friday, 12 July 2013

Defender Stephen Tobin is the latest player to register for Blyth Spartans.

The 29-year-old centre-back signs from Northern League side Bishop Auckland, becoming yet another acquisition to link up with Assistant Manager Colin Myers at Croft Park.

And 'Tobes' is looking forward to representing Spartans in the Evo-Stik League Northern Premier next season.

He said: "I'm absolutely delighted to be joining the club. Obviously, I know the history and it's a great opportunity for me at the later stage of my career.

"I think it's a great move and it gives me a chance to prove myself at a higher level, which I'm looking forward to.

"Blyth's got a great reputation and, for any lad to move from the Northern League, playing for Blyth in the Evo-Stik is a good challenge to take on.

"I can't wait to get started."

Tobin will add some much-needed experience to the squad, but he believes the club can do well this season with the players on board.

He said: "It might be a young squad, but there's plenty of potential, a good work rate and a desire to win within it.

"I can see from the training so far that we're all going to be working hard and putting our best in for the club this season."
