Spartans In Triple Swoop
Friday, 30 December 2011
Blyth Spartans can announce that Tommy Cassidy has made his first moves in the transfer market, securing three new players in the shape of Bury midfielder Max Harrop (one month loan) and the registration of ex-Whitby Town midfielder Sam Hodgson and ex-Hartlepool United defender Jordon Mellish.
Max Harrop - Midfielder
The Oldham based youngster was originally on the books of Liverpool, before making the move to Gigg Lane. He has made three appearances in the first team for the Shakers, including a substitute appearance in the League Cup this season and signed a two year contract at Bury at the start of this season.
The deal will see Max available for selection for Blyth Spartans up to the 29 January 2012.
Sam Hodgson - Midfielder
Sam, 20 year old, joins from Tommy Cassidy's former club Whitby Town and was involved in the recent FA Cup clash between the two sides.
A midfielder, he has spent time playing in the college system in America (at the San Jose State University) and has been playing with Whitby since his return.
Jordon Mellish - Defender
Jordon joins from Hartlepool United, is a powerful, 6 foot 2 defender and he played in the pre-season friendly between Blyth Spartans and Hartlepool United (which saw Blyth lose 3-1)
Manager Tommy Cassidy commented "I have spoken to Richie Barker (manager at Bury) and Max comes highly rated, he is a left footed midfield player with bags of energy and is a good footballer.
"With Jordon and Sam, the two lads will come to training and we'll take it from there. Whilst I know Sam well from my time at Whitby Town, I don't know a great deal about Jordon, although he comes with good pedigree and the people that I have spoken to about him confirm that he's a good solid defender."
