Spartans Name Seghini As New General Manager
Thursday, 17 November 2016
Following General Manager Ian Evans' decision to step down from the role at the end of this season, Anthony Seghini - the current chairman of the Spartans' Supporters Club - has been appointed to the post.
The 51-year-old will work in tandem with Ian from April 14 2017, to ensure a smooth hand-over ahead of next season.
Anthony worked for Barclays for 33 years - joining them straight after leaving school - but left in September this year, after accepting an offer voluntary redundancy.
Ant commented: "I have been supporting Spartans since the early 1970s, when I first started attending with my Dad and I have been coming ever since. During that time, I have had the pleasure of watching and being entertained by some fantastic players and I have seen some great managers come and go.
"I have always had close links with the club, most recently being on the committee of the Supporters Club, and have made many friends here over the years.
"I am thrilled to have been offered the role of General Manager, as it is not often that you can accept a position somewhere that is so close to your heart. I look forward to continuing the great work that has already been done by Ian in his time with the club and working closely with the Executive Committee.
"I see exciting times ahead for the mighty Spartans and I look forward to being part of that journey."
Anthony's predecessor Ian Evans added: "I'm sure we have appointed the right man for the job.
"Ant has a wealth of valuable experience which he can bring to the job and, of course, he has Spartans in his blood!"
