Spartans reveal new matchday media output

Monday, 18 August 2014

Blyth Spartans have announced two new additions to the club's media package with the addition of an AudioBoo account and "Spartans Matchday Live".

The AudioBoo account actually made it's debut prior to Saturday's opening day win against Grantham Town and gave the Green Army a chance to hear the thoughts of manager Tom Wade before the game.

This will be a permanent fixture throughout the season and will give Spartans supporters a flavour of how preparations have gone and the thoughts of the management team going into each game.

However the addition of 'Spartans Matchday Live' will strike a chord with supporters around the country, particularly those who can't attend matches. The new feature will appear on the club's website and will go live prior to tomorrow night's fixture at Ashton United.

Supporters will be kept up to date with the action during matches with a real time written commentary, starting with team news half an hour before kick off and will give updates on every big moment during the game right up until the full time whistle goes.

Spartans Senior Press Officer Mark Carruthers is hopeful that the new additions to the club's extensive media output would be a success.

"We are always looking to keep our supporters up to date with all of the events at the club and we constantly look at new ways to improve what we offer the Green Army. The AudioBoo account means they can hear from the management team prior to every game but we think Spartans Matchday Live will have the biggest impact.

We do have Radio Northumberland back providing commentary this coming Monday when Whitby Town come to Croft Park which is huge for us. We do feel our Twitter account can be limited in match coverage and can't really go in-depth. This is why we are introducing Matchday Live and we think this will allow our supporters to have a more in-depth view of the action no matter where they are in the world"
