Spartans sign former Magpies man Richardson
Thursday, 20 November 2014
Blyth Spartans have completed the signing of former Newcastle United academy product Michael Richardson.
The midfielder was released by the Magpies at the end of last season after joining their academy in 2010. During his time at the club he had loan spells in the Football League with Leyton Orient, Gillingham and Accrington Stanley.
Richardson will be familiar to Spartans supporters as he scored the second goal in the Magpies 4-0 Northumberland Senior Cup Final win over Tom Wade's side at St James Park last season.
That was a feat he had already achieved against Spartans in May 2011 when he got the Magpies first goal in the Final of the same competition.
Richardson will go straight into the Spartans squad for Saturday's home fixture against Kings Lynn Town.
Welcome to the club Michael!
