Spartans Sign Kyle Barlow

Friday, 19 August 2011

Blyth Spartans can announce the signing of Chester-le-Street keeper Kyle Barlow as cover.

The 20-year-old produced a stunning display in the recent friendly between the two sides, preventing a much heavier defeat for the Cestrians and manager Steve Cuggy was quick to invite Kyle down to training, to take another look and this saw Kyle play as a second half substitute in the 4-0 friendly win over Ashington.

Cuggy commented "We've a bit of bad luck with 'keepers over the pre-season and at one point or another they've all been unavailable. Hopefully we'll have Matty Crook and Matty Hunter available for tomorrow's game with Bishop's Stortford, but we've signed Kyle on to give us some extra cover and will keep an eye on his progress at Chester-le-Street."

"Max (Johnson) trained with the first team last night, but he's battered and bruised and looks like he's been an accident with the injury that he picked up on Tuesday night, so we'll have to see how he is for tomorrow."

Welcome to the club Kyle!
