Spartans sign new defender

Friday, 20 March 2015

23 year old Stuart Bramley has today signed for the club.

As an 18 year old Wallsend-born Stuart, who can play at right back or centre back, went on a scholarship to the USA to play in Arkansas. He later went on to play a season for Dallas in the NPSL.
He returned from the States recently and was on trial with Macclesfield Town in the transfer window. He had the chance to sign for Spennymoor but chose local North Shields instead. He has jumped at the opportunity to join Blyth.

"I want to play at a high level," he said. "Blyth are a great club with a great history. My family knows the club well with my Uncle Gordon [Atkinson] having played for the Spartans in the 60s/70s, so it's fantasic to be here. I've met some of the lads and everyone has been very welcoming."

Stuart goes straight in to the squad for tomorrow's home game against Stourbridge.
