Blyth Spartans can announce the signing of forward Wilson Kneeshaw.

The 22-year-old is a product of the Middlesbrough youth academy (were he was in the same intake as former Spartan Jarrett Rivers) and has spent time in Romania's Liga 1 (their equivilent of the premier league) with ASC Poli Timisoara.

Upon his return to the UK, he trialled with several clubs over the summer before signing for Barnsley. He then subsequently moved to Darlington and scored in Quakers' 2-1 victory over Blyth Spartans in the Integro Doodson Cup at Croft Park in November.

Upon confirmation of his registration at Croft Park Kneeshaw said "I'm delighted to sign for the club and really looking forward to getting started with my Spartans career. The club are obviously doing well in the league and I'm hoping I can help the Spartans continue this good run."

Manager Tom Wade commented "I'm delighted to get Wilson on board, he had a great game in the League Cup and he gives us options up front. The timing of the signing is also helpful with Nipa (Dan Maguire) and Sean Reid carrying knocks".

Welcome to the club Wilson!
