Spartans To Face Macclesfield If They See Off Altrincham

Monday, 28 November 2016

Blyth Spartans will be rewarded with a home Buildbase FA Trophy First Round tie against Vanarama National League side Macclesfield Town, if they can overcome Altrincham in tomorrow night's re-arranged fixture.

Saturday's original meeting at Moss Lane was called off due to a frozen pitch, meaning that Spartans go into the game against the Vanarama National League North's basement club knowing that a win will see them welcome the Silkmen to Croft Park in the next round.

Should Spartans prevail and get through to the FA Trophy First Round for the first time in six years, their game against Macclesfield will take place on Saturday December 10. Therefore, their Evo-Stik Premier League trip to Rushall Olympic would become the third away game that Blyth have to re-schedule, with Nantwich Town and Warrington Town also falling foul to the club's cup commitments already this season.
