Spartans to launch new YouTube channel

Thursday, 21 March 2013

Blyth Spartans' latest venture into new media is sure to be a "Hit" with supporters - as the club has set up a brand new YouTube channel.

BSAFCTV will give the Green Army more insight into life at Croft Park and they will soon be able to submerge themselves with all things Spartans.

The channel will begin broadcasting from the start of pre-season and it allows the club to further enhance its media coverage next season.

Spartans are also happy to announce that former Programme Editor Glen Maxwell has agreed to remain at the club - as he takes control of the new channel.

Discussing his new role at the club, Glen said: "We have a fantastic media department here at Blyth. However, I suppose the only thing that has let us down has been the lack of video really.

"We've identified that now and, with the launch of BSAFCTV, we'll be able to cover all aspects of the club and give supporters even more content to enjoy.

"When this idea was first discussed, I knew it was something I wanted to be involved with. I enjoy working for Blyth and I have a bit of a background in visual media, so it just seemed like the next logical step for me to take."

Glen also revealed that there are already some big plans for BSAFCTV, which will all be revealed at a later date.

He said: "There's still over a month of this season to go, so there's plenty of time for us to announce everything ahead of the channel going live in July. We know what the supporters want to see and, hopefully, they'll not be disappointed.

"We've had a few discussions regarding content and there are some great ideas, some of which are in the early stages of development. Because of that, I can't reveal too much about those at the moment.

"All I will say is, I've already spoken to someone who is keen to provide video coverage of our home games next season, which I'm sure will be a very popular addition for all of our Spartans exiles."

Media Manager Phil Castiaux added: "This is another exciting step forward for the club. We are covering many bases now, when it comes to taking advantage of emerging media opportunities.

"That's all down to the dedication, creativity and thoroughness of the volunteers who form the media team here at Blyth Spartans."
