Spartans U10s 2 Walker Central Whites 7

After last week's fighting performance full of effort and commitment, I sat down after this game trying to work out how we hadn't performed.

After long and hard contemplation, I have now decided that I believe in the existence of extra-terrestial life. Not just any ETs though, but shape shifting ETs. What has this got to do with football I hear you ask, but I think the aliens read my last report and abducted most of the team to see what makes a Spartan. Some of them then stayed behind and changed into their exact doubles. However, their fiendish plan has been discovered due to last Sunday's match.

For the first time in the Trophy League, we kept a clean sheet at the end of the first quarter. Not only had we not conceded, but Brooklyn had scored to give us a 1-0 lead. Things were looking good. However, the second quarter saw us getting back to old ways of not challenging for 50/50 balls and not closing players down. 2-1 down at the end of the second quarter and 4-1 at the end of the third saw us throw caution to the wind and go for it in the last quarter. We decided that points, if we can get them, are more important than goal difference. A goal for Besty brought some hope, but this all out attacking style saw us concede three more by the end of the match to finsh up losing 7-2.

I'm now scanning the skies at night looking for any sign that the team is being returned.
