Spartans U9 6 Seaton Burn Youth 1

Monday, 23 March 2009

This was Spartans last game of the current league on 21st March, before the new mini-league starts with the top six teams. Spartans had already qualified for this league before the game and looking at how they started the game, it was just as well. Seaton Burn started the better team with Spartans looking as if they had just got out of bed. Although we had chances through both Lewis Best and Kieron Garrett, it was Seaton Burn who opened the scoring. From the re-start, Spartans pushed forward and were quickly back on level terms. Spartans passed the ball around the centre of midfield and a nice though ball saw Best one on one with the keeper who he beat to score. Garret and Best both had chances just wide, before Best put Spartans into a 2-1 lead before half time. Seaton Burn came back out at the start of the second half looking to play football and it was fairly evenly balanced in terms of play until Best scored his and Spartans third. A Joe Todd corner from the left which was nicely delivered into the box saw Best get a strong head onto the ball and put it into the back of the net for a great goal that gave the keeper no chance. More pressure for Spartans led to further chances and another two goals for Best to make the final score 6-1.
