Spartans win monthly Evo-Stik League award

Wednesday, 29 January 2014

January may well be seen as the most depressing month of the year but Tom Wade's Blyth Spartans have done their best to warm up even the weariest of follower. The record for the first month of the year reads four games, three wins and one draw, all whilst plundering fifteen goals in the process with a remarkable nine different players finding the back of the net. That run of form has consolidated Spartans status as play off contenders and only an injury time equaliser at Ashton United prevented them completing a 100% record for the month.

That form has caught the attention of the decision makers at the Evo-Stik League and Spartans have been awarded the Evo-Stik Premier Division Club of the Month for January. A presentation will take place before the first home game of next month as Witton Albion make the trip to Croft Park on Saturday 8th February.

Manager Tom Wade commented "We told the players this afternoon and they were delighted. It's an award for both the team on and off the pitch, we are one club and everyone is in this together at Croft Park. It's recognition for a lot of hard work from everyone in trying circumstances in a tough league. The players have grafted during games and in preparation and we couldn't anymore of them. I have to say thank you to the backroom staff too because they have been fantastic"

Wade also paid tribute other parties at the club saying "The club is evolving into a very special place with the Clubhouse, the Club Store and the top notch Media team all pulling together so it's reward for everyone helping the club get back to where it should be"
