Tait dizzy for Gillespie

Friday, 15 October 2010

With the recent departure of goalkeeper Sam Grieveson, Blyth Spartans are delighted to announce that they have signed goalkeeper Mark Gillespie on a month's loan from Carlisle United.

Mark, 18, is an understudy to former Workington goalkeeper Adam Collin at Brunton Park and has been been on the bench for the League One side on several occasions. He has made one appearance for the Cumbrians coming on in the final minute of last game of last season away to Norwich City (the appearance making him the youngest goalkeeper ever to play for Carlisle United, surpasing the record set by current Carlisle goalkeeping coach Tony Caig over 20 years ago).

The Newcastle born 'stopper' will be in the squad for tomorrow's Blue Square Bet North clash away to Eastwood Town.

Welcome to the club Mark
