Thursday, 20 June 2024
Blyth Spartans are pleased to announce Tom Read as our new Goalkeeper coach.
The 30-year-old has worked for both West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City in both of their academies and was also the lead Goalkeeper coach of both women's teams.
Read faced Blyth from the opposition dugout while at AFC Telford United, where he served as their goalkeeper coach in the National League North.
He currently works alongside Spartans captain Nicky Deverdics and Ian Aitken, who Tom is taking over from, at the i2i International Soccer Academy, where he joined the program in August 2023.
Alongside this and his new role at Blyth, Tom also works for the FA as the lead coach for the regional emerging talent program for the north.
On joining Blyth, Read said: "I'm really looking forward to Starting at Blyth, I'm excited to build on the great work Ian Aitken has done and push and develop the Goalkeeping Department.
"I'm looking forward to meeting all our fantastic fans at Croft Park."
Welcome to Blyth, Tom!
