Tom talks - about the AFC Fylde game
Thursday, 18 April 2013
Spartans boss Tom Wade was full of praise for his side despite their 1-0 defeat at AFC Fylde on Tuesday.
"Bearing in mind that we were four players down from Saturday, the lads who came in did well," he said. "Our attitude was excellent and we deserved a point from the game. We lined up 4-5-1 with Daniel Maguire up front. We bossed midfield, got a hold of the ball well and got it forward quickly. It worked really well. It wasn't the best game of football that you'd see but we put in a totally committed performance.
"We weren't tight enough when Fylde scored but it was a great finish. That was the only time in the game when we switched off for a couple of seconds, which is an improvement on recent games.
"We got some good crosses in and were dangerous from corners which is pleasing. We created two or three really good chances but so did Fylde. Connor [Grant] in goal for us was superb pulling off some outstanding saves. Jordan Mellish did well playing with an injury and Tom Berj gave us fight in midfield. Actually the whole team was excellent!"
