Tom talks - about the Droylsden game

The first ten minutes of Blyth's performance at Droylsden on Tuesday night flattered to deceive.

Manager Tom Wade commented: "We played exceptionally well at the start and looked like we could go on to win the game be several goals. But our old problem of not putting teams away did for us. We lost our shape and pressed too highly allowing Droylsden to play through us.

"As the game went on we carved them open on occasions and created chances but it told on some of the lads who had gone early in to work to get the afternoon off. They slept on the journey down but still suffered."

The Blyth boss made two substitutions in the final five minutes.

"I possibly could have them earlier, on reflection, but we were heading for a point so I left it. I have to say that their full backs were excellent and we just couldn't get past them," he said. "Conor Grant in goal was our Man of the Match for me. He made some really good, and brave, saves.

"Overall it was a point away from home, which is a good point."

Looking ahead to Saturday's FA Cup clash with AFC Fylde at Croft Park Wade said," Fylde will be more direct than Droylsden and it will be a totally different game but it will prove to be a major experience for the lads. Fylde are a top side and the match will give us an indication of where we are in terms of developing as a team and we all looking forward to the challenge."
