Tom talks - after the Buxton game

Sunday, 7 September 2014

Following his side's 1-0 defeat at the hands of Buxton on Saturday Spartans' manager Tom Wade was left to reflect on the paucity of his attacking options.

"We lack depth up front, and was clear from Saturday," he said. "But good forwards cost an awful lot of money - which we just don't have."

Regarding the game itself Wade commented: "We did all right in the first half and created a few chances but we didn't boss the game as I would have wanted us to. We lacked a bit of fight in the middle. Buxton had a good two players in there and we weren't able to win many first or second balls.

"Overall they weren't better than us but we weren't better than them either. With it being two evenly matched sides it was always likely to be a 1-0 game. A draw would have been a fair result but, to be honest I can't complain with the fact that Buxton picked up all three points."
