Tom talks - after the Darlington Cup game

Manager Tom Wade was pleased with his revamped side despite it going down 2-1 to Darlington 1883 in the Doodson Sport Cup on Tuesday.

"We could actually have won it quite easily if we'd been more clinical in front of goal. We should have been two or three up before the break, "he said. "Darlington scored with their chances and we didn't with ours.

"We made seven changes to the side from Saturday and I was pleased with the way the lads played through the full 90 minutes as some of them have had little game time recently. We had four attacking midfielders in the pitch plus two attacking full backs and it meant we didn't screen the defence as well as we have been doing and, playing a bit more narrowly, we weren't able to open Darlington up with 30 or 40 yard balls. But in the last 20 minutes they didn't touch the ball!

"I thought Stephen Turnbull and Ryan Hutchinson were outstanding and Sean [Reid] did well too. We'll now look forward to Whitby in the FA Trophy on Saturday. It should be a cracker."
