Tom talks - after the Kendal Town game

Blyth manager Tom Wade was pleased with his side's 4-0 FA Trophy win against Kendal Town at Croft Park on Saturday but felt it could have been an even wider winning margin.

"It was a convincing victory but we could have scored more," he said. "We're going to hammer someone soon."

Talking of the Kendal game he added: "We had a few chances in the first 15 minutes, but so did they. It was looking like whoever scored first would go on to win the game. After that opening period the game died a bit and we let Kendal settle. No disrespect to them but we find it hard to play our high tempo game against opposition from a lower league. We don't work as hard as we should do. But when we got going we played some good stuff.

"Robbie [Dale] put us ahead with a top draw free kick. It took a small deflection but the pace beat the keeper. Our second came from a great [Aaran] Wearmouth cross and fantastic header by Wadey [Matthew Wade]. Again Aaron did well to set up Michael [Richardson] for the third. Aaran is getting much better at picking people out now. For our fourth goal I thought Robbie had missed his chance but he finished beautifully."

Saturday saw Stephen Turnbull coming on as a substitute. Wade commented: "We're going to ease him back from his foot injury. He's vital to what we do so it's important we're patient."

Injured right back Andrew Cartwright sat out the Kendal game but Wade expects him to be available for selection either Saturday coming or the following Tuesday.
